To obtain a competition license you need to have a valid UAE driving license and a medical fitness certificate as per CIK/FIA regulations. What is a Homologation paper, and how do I get it?
In order to participate in any rally, your vehicle needs to be homologated. The homologation paper is a document which certifies that the vehicle used in the rally is custom-built according to FIA specifications for that group or class of vehicle. To get your vehicles homologated you need to contact your ASN.
How can I register myself to participate in the Dubai International Rally or the Desert Challenge?
In order to participate in any of these rallies you need to fill up the entry form, get it stamped by your ASN (National Sporting Authority) and then submit it to the ATCUAE before the entry closing date.
What is a marshal?
A motorsport marshal carries out a wide range of duties, all of which contribute to the overall efficiency and success of a motorsport event. It is a voluntary role, and vital to the organization of motorsport.
Why become a marshal?
Marshalling is an exciting way of getting involved in motorsport. You get into events free, learn new skills, meet new people and make new friends, help others, watch the action with the best view possible. Your contribution is appreciated by everyone involved, including the organizing clubs and competitors.
What qualifications and training do I need?
No qualifications are required, just a willingness to get involved, have fun and learn what it’s all about. To be a full marshal you have to be 18 or above. Training is provided by motorsport clubs, marshal clubs. If you already have special skills, such a technical skills, mechanical, rescue, vehicle recovery, medical, first aid or administration, you may wish to use those skills in your role as a marshal.
What time commitment is involved?
There’s no minimum requirement beyond attending appropriate training, so it’s up to you. You can attend all the events or choose the ones appropriate for your time schedule.
Can I just work locally or do I have to travel?
It’s entirely up to you. Many marshals choose to work at their local race circuit or other nearby motorsport locations, whereas others are happy to travel.
